Samaritan Women Inc., is a Not-for-Profit organization established to address the needs of women and youth in the Rochester, NY area. The mission of the organization is to strive to improve the life-opportunities of at-risk youth and women through a comprehensive approach aimed at developing their overall capabilities. Programming focuses on education, career exploration, while fostering social and intellectual development. The mission is to challenge women and youth to transcend beyond their circumstances.
Entrepreneurial Attributes Samaritan Women, Inc. is comprised of two programs: Keeping Kids Connected Keeping Kids Connected is a community based support group for children ages 11-17 years old whose parent is incarcerated. Through their unfortunate circumstances, Keeping Kids Connected (KKC) seeks to strengthen family bonds by providing after-school programming, academic support, self-esteem development, positive decision making skills, and monthly parental visitations. KCC also provides support workshops for caregivers and incarcerated parents. Spirit of Success is a world exploration program which fosters imagination, risk-taking, innovation, and a readiness to undertake new projects, thereby, developing an entrepreneurial spirit within our community’s youth. Program highlights include various field trips exposing youth to numerous ethnic and cultural differences, exposure to arts and music events, as well as employment trainings, academic support, and career development workshops. Both programs are facilitated to train women and youth toward establishing themselves as leaders within their communities. Programming is structured as a catalyst for individuals to dispel the myths of limited potential, and to embrace unlimited opportunities. Youth are trained in the four (4) core areas of personal branding, service learning, world exploration, and entrepreneurial attributes. Samaritan Women defines an entrepreneur as a person who makes a significant difference, is determined in the face of adversity and competition, as well as identifies and exploits opportunities.
